BEREAVEMENT SUPPORT SERVICE
The work of a comparatively new charity, assisting various family members with losing parents siblings or children, was the subject of the talk given to members of Henley Rotary Club at Henley Golf Club on Tuesday.
Pippa Lock, fund-raising officer of Child Bereavement UK, described the work of this charity which was started in Buckinghamshire, with offices at Saunderton, near Princes Risborough, and now has a second office in Cheshire.
She pointed out that, although they dealt with family bereavements of all kinds, approximately 20,000 children experience the death of a parent in a year, and the emphasis was to find a local service to provide the counselling support needed.
Whilst the support had primarily been provided in Buckinghamshire and Cheshire, it was hoped to develop the work by concentrating on areas of deprivation throughout the U.K.
