Rtn Mary Noyes takes over as new club president

Monday 7 July 2014 saw the annual changeover of officers for the Rotary Club of Llantwit Major.  By tradition this begins with a Service of Dedication held this year at St Donats Church conducted by Rotarian Rev. D. Vivian Ginn and accompanied by organist Lynn Brown.  Later at a dinner held at the West House Hotel Rtn. Mary Noyes was installed as the new club President taking over from Rtn. Christine James.

Mary Noyes who lives in the village of Llanmaes was born in Porth and later lived at St Clears and Porthcawl before moving to the village many years ago.  She studied at the Welsh College of Music and Drama before becoming a teacher.  For many years before her recent retirement Mary Noyes was Head Teacher of Llangan Primary School near Cowbridge.  She has three children and is delighted also now to have a granddaughter.  Her first duty as the new club president was to thank Christine James for her very successful year in office and for the notable achievement both in the town and also in collecting enough for two Shelterboxes which will be used to help in overseas disasters.  She hoped that she would have as productive year in office as the outgoing president and noted that the club had now entered its thirty-fourth year of service in the town.  Mary Noyes ended by saying that new members were always welcome and it was her wish that in her year the club would continue to grow.
