Young Speakers Evening Monday 7th July Pupils from the three local secondary schools in Fleet were invited to come along to Fleet Rotary's partner's evening last Monday at North Hants Golf Club to practice their public speaking skills

The schools represented and students were:-
Calthorpe Park School - Michael Till and Ria Hassler - " How adults perceive young people"

Court Moor School - James Casey and Lucy Blunt - talking on "How opportunities offered in school allow us to grow"

Saint Nicholas School - Emma Wells - "Homework."

All three groups spoke for around 10-15minutes followed by five minutes of questions. While this was not a competitive event, Rotarians were invited to fill out an assessment form for each group to provide feed-back to the youngsters. The quality of all three presentations was impressively high and the skill demonstrated by these pupils in dealing with, in some cases quite awkward, questions was exceptionally good. The evening turned out to be thoroughly entertaining and provided a valuable opportunity for these young people to further develop their public speaking abilities.

Also  the winner of Young Writer 2014 attended our Monday meeting on 21st July 2014. She was Caitlin Griffith and her piece was entitled "What difference did THAT make to my life?"
