A SUCCESFUL WHEELS 2014
Sunday July 20th welcomed Wadebridge Rotary Club's 18th annual Wheels event at the Royal Cornwall Show Ground with a misty start in the early morning, which quickly dispersed and a long, hot, sunny day developed. As a result, Wheels was the best ever so far, with a record 800 exhibitors attending with their prized vehicles on display to a discerning public. Over 2000 adults and 400 children paid to attend during the day. Music was supplied by the bands of Wadebridge and Bodmin Schools, who played seperately and combined throughout the day and displayed the amazing talent of their students. The music and its variety was well appreciated. Another popular attraction was the horse-drawn bus, which provided rides around parts of the site.
There was an ongoing display in the parade ring of selected vehicles, with Tim Michell providing details of each exhibit on the PA system manned and supplied by Martin Broadfoot of MBAssociates. Prizes for vehicles were supplied by Sproulls Solicitors, Robertsons Jewellers, The Shoe Boy, MCB Insurance, Anns Cottage Surf Shops, and Daftens. The judging and subsequent presentation of trophies was made by Ch. Supt. Julie Fielding, the Police Commander for Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.
Wadebridge Rotary Club thanks all those who volunteeered to act as stewards, and car parking attendants to assist the Rotarians and partners who gave up their day for this prestigious event. More especially, thanks to all exhibitors, without whom, no show would be possible. We look forward to seeing you all for Wheel 2015 on Sunday 19 July 2015 at the Show Ground.
To date 13,500 (nett) has been raised and the club will soon begin to allocate funds to the Merlin Centre, North Cornwall Food Banks (the highlighted charities) and to local charities and organisations. Full details will be published.
