Silver Environment Award for Club

RIBI Silver Environment Award presented to Lynda Sebbage, Team Chair.

Working to promote the environment

Environmental considerations and sustainability are integral within the work of the Club and are promoted by our acting as a resource, providing information and organising various projects and initiatives.

The Club was recently presented with the Rotary GB&I Silver Environment Award for our work.

To achieve this, our targets were -

  • to educate about the reasons why we all have to reduce carbon emissions and to demonstrate how everyone can save money in the process,
  • to build on our links with schools to encourage Eco Schools - see the 'Schools Environment Project' page for an update
  • to promote Climate Week for schools
  • to promote the planting of more trees
  • to encourage collection and recycling of tins, so raising money (in conjunction with Stowmarket Rotary Club) for Addenbrookes Hospital
  • to continue providing collection points for old spectacles for Vision Aid

We are now looking to work for the Rotary GB&I Gold Environment Award.
