Youth Committee

In 2019 the Club in partnership with Shropshire Council's Grange Youth Centre, with the specific aim of enabling “diversionary,” activities for vulnerable youths, during school holidays. While the Grange staff are fully funded by Shrewsbury Council, the  costs of holiday activities are reliant on charitable donations. Hence by providing funding, the club is improving deprived youths’ life chances and, indirectly, benefiting wider society.

The initial donation to the Grange Centre was earmarked for Easter holiday activities but Covid19 then intervened and it remains to be seen when the money will be spent but the 2020 summer holidays will be the first potential opportunity.

Much of our partnership with the Grange Centre will be funding biased, primarily because we recognise we may not have appropriate skills to interact effectively with the young people. Therefore, we will be looking to make further cash donations, as funds allow. However, the Grange Youth Leader recognises the need for positive role models and we will look to see how we might have some direct volunteering involvement.

Where appropriate Grange Youth Club members could be put forward for the various Rotary competitions/programmes.

The Committee recognises the importance of raising funds to cover its donations to the Grange Centre and any other youth organisations that it may, from time to time, support. Therefore it plans to proceed as

a. continuing our account with Easy Fund Raising

b.  hold a fund raising event. However the planned summer Jazz Supper, was a casualty of Covid 19 restrictions but if circumstances allow we would hope to run such an event in summer 2021.
