Dr Young, Durrell's resident bird conservation expert, gave a fascinating insight into the conservation work of Durrell around the world including a local initiative to restore a resident Chough population to the North coast of Jersey.
His talk was accompanied by an excellent slide show and also demonstrated the information that was available on the internet on the recently launched Durrell conservation index, which can be seen here.
This is designed to show the effect of Durrell's work in conserving endangered species and how threatened populations have been saved by the work of what is really only a small number of dedicated experts. The Club showed its appreciation by making the plate collection up to
