Sam Evans spoke about his Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarship in 2007 when he was able to study at the University of Western Australia in Perth, where he won a national award for student films.  The Ambassadorial Scholarship programme, funded by the Rotary Foundation, provided selected graduates with a full grant for a year at a foreign university of their choice.  While abroad, the scholars served as goodwill ambassadors to the host country and on their return shared their experiences that led to a greater understanding of their host country. Mr Evans referred to the power of Rotary to make dreams come true.

He said the scholarship gave him the confidence to achieve. After university he travelled the entire perimeter of Australia and spent several weeks in the bush. His journey home from Singapore to Nottingham was made without flying, for a sort of bet.He got as far as Estonia! After having a number of jobs including as a health specialist, he recently set up his own successful business providing social media management services.
