Brass and Choral Concert

Midsummer Melodies

A very successful concert at St Wilfrid's Church Kirkby in Ashfield on 20th June 2015 at 7.15pm attended by 200 plus people raised over £ 800

We were supporting Newstead Brass who are playing really well and were placed very respectably against many of the ‘big boys’ at a recent contest in Blackpool. They are not a heavily sponsored band so, every booking we can give them helps them to continue to represent our area so proudly.

The Ashfield Workplace choir entered a choir concert in Nottingham last year, just for the experience, and won it! They are really very entertaining with very good voices and a lovely Musical Director, Thea Avison.

Finally Samantha Vernon, ex Cantamus, currently studying for her Masters at the Birmingham Conservatoire having been awarded several bursaries (I believe) to help with the funding. You will know that only the most talented are supported in this way. A local girl with a lovely voice coming along to sing a couple of numbers for us.

The proceeds of the evening were to support C.R.Y. (Cardiac Risk in the Young) and Rotary Charities.
