Building houses in India

Rotary District 1220 project in Andhra Pradesh

Despite sustained economic growth in recent years, India still has over 260 million people living below the poverty line.  Many are in remote tribal villages and slums where the conditions are beyond description.

The (then 57) Rotary clubs in our District joined to provide a minimum of 100 Rotary houses in District 3150, Andhra Pradesh.  Rotary in the area is familiar with such projects and expert at managing them efficiently.

These houses meet an inportant aim of Rotary's international work – to improve water, sanitation and health.  Each house has a plaque bearing the name of the donor; one bearing our name is shown.
