‘Millions of lives have been shattered by Nepal’s deadly earthquakes’

(- ShelterBox)

Recognising the need for urgent aid for the victims of the Nepal earthquakes, the generosity of visitors to The Gyle Shopping Centre on Saturday 9 May 2015 was amazing - our team of Club members and friends collected donations of over £3,500 to provide ShelterBoxes in our Nepal Earthquake appeal.

On show at the Gyle were the contents of a ShelterBox just like the ones already in situ in Nepal. The ShelterBox charity is a ‘Rotary Project Partner'

As of Monday 11 May, the ShelterBox charity has already sent 1,500 ShelterBoxes to help survivors of the earthquake. They have also sent 1,539 ShelterKits ( tarpaulins, axes, etc. ) and a number of water purification kits.

The Gyle collection will fund another six ShelterBoxes - each green durable plastic box containing a large family tent (see photos above), waterproof groundmats, thermal fleece blankets, cooking equipment, solar light, lifestraw (water filter), mosquito nets, tool kit, water containers and children’s activity pack.

Sincere thanks from Rotary to all who donated.
