Charities gain from Golf Am Am

Nith Inshore Rescue Boat and other charities benefit from a good days golf.

Local charity Nith Inshore Rescue has gained a welcome boost to their funds after benefiting from a £2000 cheque presented to them from Thornhill and District Rotary Club. The cash was raised in a most successful AmAm golf competition held recently at Thornhill Golf Club.

Over £4000 was raised on the day with Chest, Heart and Stroke Scotland and other local charities also set to benefit from the money raised.

Rotarian Brian Hunter who co-ordinated the team which organised the annual event said. Once again we had an absolutely splendid day. We had 176 golfers taking part and all of them donated generously to our fund-raising efforts. I am most grateful to them, our most generous sponsors and those who gave us donations. I must also thank captain Mark Lockhart and Thornhill Golf Club for the courtesy of the course.

Sponsoring the event were AMD Contract Services Ltd, Buccleuch and Queensberry Hotel, Dumfries & Galloway Housing Partnership (DGHP), Farries Kirk & McVean, Homer Burgess Ltd, Merlin Office, Pollock & McLean, Sanquhar Tile Services Ltd,Scottish Building Society, Avon Cosmetics and 101 Boutique.

Donations were received from Cadham Consultancy Ltd, James F Robertson, Penpont Garage, Dennis Thomson (Fresh Meats) Ltd. Ian Lewis Plumbing and Heating and John Kirkpatrick.
