Kirkham Rotary Clay Pigeon Shoot.

Thu, Jul 2nd 2015 at 6:00 pm - 10:00 pm

Once again our annual clay pigeon shoot will be held at Rotarian Tom Garlick's farm. Entries on the night from 6pm.

An early start was made at Grange Farm where, despite the rain in the early part of the evening, shooting began in earnest at 6.00 pm.

Plaudits go to our host, Tommy Garlick for his and his team’s precise preparations and to David Kirby in particular for his general organisation, for supplying the tent (most welcome in the inclement weather), and for his welcoming repartee as the shooters registered.

The refreshment kiosk was a great draw but one observation was that there were no mobile toilets. Although there are plenty of nearby hedges, this would be a requirement in future if lady shooters are still to be encouraged.

PP Roger, our Health & Safety Officer, has volunteered to produce a rota next year to allow Rotarians manning the stations to do their stints and to take breaks.

The following three pictures show the social benefits to be gained from The Shoot. Apologies for not showing any action shots!
