Our speakers tonight were two young fitness professionals who have a very holistic and positive attitude to maintaining health and fitness throughout life. After more than 10 years of research and hands-on experience Richard Thompson and Sarah Franklin have practical and realistic ideas on keeping the body and mind in good shape.
After a very interesting and focused talk we had many questions for them.
They emphasised the need to keep the body active. Only the action of muscles on the lymph system allows the effective elimination from the body of unwanted waste (also known as toxins) via the gut. A build up of toxins poisons the body systems and increases the risk of disease and inflammation. Being older should not mean more sitting down !! Use it or lose it !
Look on their website for lots of good, basic, free advice on the types of movement to include in your daily movement - the videos are very helpful !
Look for their general advice videos initially than advance to their more specific advice for eg Runners and how to avoid injury.
