Young Musician Competition 2015

The local heat of the Young Musician and the Young Singer of the Year Competition took place at Castle Douglas High School on Thursday 12th February.  A total of 10 high quality competitors ensured that the judges had a challenging task in deciding who would be declared the winner. Many parents, relatives, friends and Rotarians ensured that there was a good turnout for the evening and enjoyed the varied and exciting performances from the competitors.  Rotary President Alan Murray welcomed everyone attending and particularly welcomed Mrs Eleanor Murray who presented the overall winner with the Billy Murray Memorial Trophy.

Mrs Eleanor Murray presents the overall winner, Catriona Clark, with the Billy Murray Memorial Trophy.  Catriona then went forward to the South-West Area heat which were held at Annan Academy on the 19th February 2015.

Alan Murray presents Holly Chalmers with the Third Place Certificate in the Young Singer category.

John McQueen was the ultimate winner of the Young Singer category and is seen here being presented with his First Prize Certificate by Alan Murray, President of Castle Douglas Rotary Club.

Runner up in the Instrumental section of the Competition was Loughlin Young who performed on the drums.  He is seen receiving his certificate from Alan Murray.

Winner of the Instrumental section was Catriona Clark who performed on the Clarsach and is seen accepting her certificate from Alan Murray.  Catriona is a previous winner of the competition two years ago when she reached the NE England and Scotland round of the competition.

The judges, who had such a difficult task in deciding the winner are thanked by Alan Murray.
