The Rotary Club of Bodmin held its 16th annual charity golf day at Lanhydrock Hotel and Golf Course on 5th May raising money for the Motor Neurone Disease Association .

The golf day, which is hailed as the biggest charity golf day in Cornwall, saw forty six teams ( 184 golfers) compete in a Texas Scramble format, for various prizes, including a car and other prizes for holes in one.   Local businesses sponsored holes & greens and donated generously to the raffle prepared by volunteers of the local branch of the MND Association, the tickets for which sold out within just a few hours.

The event was organised by The Rotary Club of Bodmin, together with the dedication and exceptional work of  Derek Williamson of the MND Association.  Derek has helped to organise numerous golf events for MNDA in Cornwall and Spain over the past 9 years and to date has raised over £100,000 for  the Motor Neurone Disease Association.

Bodmin Rotary President Peter Williams and Derek Williamson expressed thanks to everyone for their participation and support.  Local MP Scott Mann presented the winners with their prizes and summing up Derek Williamson said that it was a “fabulous day, the weather was windy, but good, what more could we have asked for?” and added special thanks to the Rotary Club of Bodmin for their overwhelming support and for organising the day.
