Wisbech Rotary Club
Friends of Rotary Scheme
Wisbech Rotary Club's 'Friends of Rotary' Scheme is designed to provide an opportunity to people who cannot, or may not wish to, join the Club as a Rotarian at the present time( eg due to time and travel constraints ) but who nevertheless would like to assist the local Community by getting involved in the Club's Projects and activities, and would appreciate the fellowship offered by the Club, and maybe likely to become a Member at a future date.
A Friend of Rotary will be invited to participate in activities of the Club as follows:
...attend selected meetings of the Club
...attend selected Social activities of the Club ( eg Restaurant Outings)
... assist in Fund Raising activities and Service Projects organised by the Club within the local Community
Guidelines
A Friend of Rotary is not a Member of the Rotary Club and is not entitled to the rights nor subject to the responsibilities of Membership. Rather, a Friend has a formal association with the Club, which provides an avenue to participate in Club activities. A Friend is not entitled to attend any District, National or International Rotary Meetings, or Meetings of other Rotary Clubs.
A Friend of Rotary may be accepted by the Club Council following invitation by a Member of the Club, attendance at a Club Meeting and nomination to the Club Council.
A Friend of Rotary will be formally welcomed at a Meeting of the Club and presented with a Name Badge entitled ' Friend of the Rotary Club of Wisbech'. A Friend of Rotary is not entitled to wear a Rotary Pin.
The initial period of the Friend's association with the Club will be for the Current Rotary Year, renewable by Club Council in subsequent years subject to acceptance by both parties, and a maximum period of 5 years. There is no minimum attendance requirement at Club meetings or events but it is expected that the Friend will attend at least one Club meeting or Social Event per Quarter, and undertake at least two voluntary Fundraising or Service activities each year.
A Friend of Rotary would receive copies of the Club's Newsletters and would be encouraged to participate in the Club's activities as appropriate, with a view to potentially becoming a Full Member at some future date.
The Friend would pay an annual fee of 10 to cover admin costs, plus the cost of the Name Badge on joining. Meals and costs of other social activities will be paid at the same rate as Members.
An existing Club Member may become a Friend of Rotary with the agreement of Club Council, but a period of one year must lapse between resignation as a Member and being accepted as a Friend.
