19th Annual Charity Golf Day - Weston Golf Club


This annual event has now raised over  £160,000 for mainly local Charities.

This year we are delighted that Santander will once again be our Main Sponsor and Mercedes Benz of Weston and Weston College will also be Major Sponsors.

CHARITY GOLF DAY RAISES OVER £160,000

Weston Rotary Club held their 18th Charity Golf Day at Weston Golf Club. 45 Teams of mainly local Businesses competed and with the course in great condition the scoring was high and very close at the top. The winning team were the Jones’s Painters and Decorators PEDS Team with 92 points on countback, just pipping RBS, a new team this year captained by Andy Francis. In 3rd place with 91 points on countback was the Mendip Spring Team captained by Chris Mikulla, the new owner of Mendip Spring Golf Club. Also with 91 points were Bray and , and Feature Marble.

When all the money is received over £10,000 will have been made on the Day making over £160,000 raised for charity by this event since 1997. The Prize Giving was conducted by Weston Club Captain and Weston Rotary President Terry Gilbert.

President Terry presented cheques of £1,200 each to the local branches of Crossroads Young Carers, RNLI, Cancer Research and Weston Hospicecare. The balance will be donated to other mainly local charities as needs arise. 

All the Tees and Greens were fully sponsored and President Terry Gilbert said “I must thank all the players and local businesses and organisations for their tremendous support in making this day so successful, particularly our Main Sponsor this year Santander, and of course the Members of Weston Rotary Club and West Woodspring Inner Wheel for all the hard work of organising and running the event, especially Committee Chairman James Robertson and his wife Aileen.”
