1977/78 Club moves to Portland Heights Hotel

1978/79 Club raises £11,000+ for Chesil flood relief

1979/80 Six members and wives attend conference in Chicago

19791/80 Rent-a Santa started

1981/82 Great Wessex Marathon organised

1982/83 Paul Harris Fellowship awarded to Bunny Smith

1983/84 Hospital Car scheme started

1983/84 Youth Orchestra Founded

1984/85 Portland Marathon Organised

1984/85 Rotaract Club chartered

1984/85 Club wins District Bulletin Competition

1985/86 Three club members complete the London Marathon

1985/86 Visit from Rotarians of Portland Oregan U.S.A.

1985/86 Community Award started

1986/87 Club informed that Agnel Fernandez an Indian "orphan" sponsored by the club since 1979 had returned to his parents

1987/88 K.B-J. District Governor. Club stages conference at Riviera Centre Torquay

1987/88 K.B-J. Awarded Paul Harris Fellowship

1987/88 Harry Tompkins awarded posthumous Paul Harris Fellowship

1987/88 Club receives R.I. President's Citation

1987/88 Club raises £9000 for Polio Plus Project 

1989/90 Foundation Scholarship awarded to Elizabeth Kenwood for musical studies in Banff Canada

1989/90 Club visits Portland Oregon. Hand-over made in conjunction with Portland East club

1990/9l Club launches "Life Education" caravan and wins R.I. Presidents prize for best project against drug abuse

1990/91 Ger Woonton awarded Paul Harris Fellowship

1990/91 First "Trial of Strength" Competition held

1991/92 Andrew Child awarded Paul Harris Fellowship

1992/93 Soccer Pontoon launched

1993/94 Vic Pomeroy leads G.S.E. team to America

1993/94 K.B-J. Elected as R.I.B.I. President for 1996/97

1994/95 Association of Portland Businesses founded

1994/95 Club wins District Squash competition

1995/96 Club changes to Twilight & meets at 18.30

1995/96 John Reay becomes District Governor Nominee

1995/96 Jim Chapman leads G.S.E. team to Germany

1996/97 Portland Fiesta organised

2005/06 Asian Tsunami on Boxing Day, club members formed teams and collected over £30,000 and 20,000 items for victim relief.  We were able to purchase and pack over 300 Aqua Boxes, 17 Shelter Boxes, and donate £1000 to each of the four affected regions.  

2013/14 Nepal visit and water tanks and taps built in Raile and Madkina at a cost of £6,500 in conjunction with Okhle Village Trust and Casterbridge Rotary

2014/15 Nepal visit and water tank and taps built at Tutepani

2014/15 Nepal earthquake. Three shelter boxes purchased and money given to help rebuild houses in local villages. Again with OVT and Casterbridge. Over £18,000 raised.
