Jan's press release

Carnival gives Ledbury Town a vital energy and happy atmosphere

Bank Holiday Monday morning arrived with leaden skies and fine rain, which failed to improve in time for the start of the annual Ledbury Carnival.  August Bank Holiday Monday saw the 41st Ledbury Carnival it's theme: "Step back in time".   Despite miserable weather a multitude of gaily decorated lorries, floats and participants paraded through the Town, lifting the spirits of the sizeable and appreciative crowd.

Thousands of people who braved the cold to support and applaud the grand parade of gaily decorated lorries and other floats through the Town Centre.  Many local organisations had taken part and all their efforts paid off when the delight from the sizeable and appreciative crowds manifested itself in smiling faces, cheering and cash being donated in the official collecting buckets.   Before the parade, the best floats and displays were chosen, with Ledbury Rotary club winning the best large adult category float, the overall winner being "A Marvellous Medieval Meal" awarded to the Ledbury Children’s Centre  Entertainment continued long after the parade, with the funfair, beer festival and at least four different groups playing pop, rock n' roll, blues and calypso on the main stage and at the Feathers and the Talbot. There were food stalls and a variety of other stands, bouncy castles, rides, live music and a myriad other activities and entertainments, giving Ledbury Town a vital energy and happy atmosphere.
