Marshalling the 2015 Ironman 70.3 cycle race

IRONMAN triathlon has come to the heart of England and the inaugural Staffordshire triathlon took place on 14th June 2015. It included a 56-mile bike course through countryside outside Lichfield, Burton-upon-Trent and across Cannock Chase.

Staffordshire Rotary clubs are leading the support and Burton Rotary Club helped to marshal part of the cycle race, marshalling from Newborough, up to Sixways on the A515, along to Needwood, round to Hanbury, returning to Sixways and on to Draycott in the Clay where a Newcastle under Lyme Rotary Club took over.

By doing the marshalling Rotary got sponsorship money to put to selected charities. Our club will get money to put towards chosen local charities as well as the five main charity types that include Children’s Hospices, Air Ambulance, Service Charities, Life Education and Cancer.
