04/08/2007 - Cycle Speedway

The Rotary Club of Astley continued to show its support for the local Community when it sponsored the Open British Club Championships hosted by the Astley & Tyldesley Cycle Speedway Club and held at the Astley & Tyldesley Miners’ Welfare club.
The teams competing were from Wednesfield, Ipswich, Oxford, Leicester, Stockport, Sheffield, Bury, and of course Astley & Tyldesley.
The competition was held in two semi-finals with the hard fought event being won eventually by Oxford.
