A presentation of a unique caricature
Gill, it is lovely to have you here and blessed by having your sister Jackie too.
I know from personal experience how much the passing of a loved one leaves a hole in one’s life. The more expansive the person, the bigger the hole. How do we fill it? We here in Rotary are trying to fill the hole that Tony left. We realised he was a special person to us all. He could be prickly! He could also be the most willing of persons, the willing Rotarian and the most faithful of friends.
As a newcomer, I often wanted to ask the question or even to say no to something put forward by Council. Fortunately, there was one who was prepared to ask the difficult question, to stand by his own set of morals and vote against the motion or even be the only one for it. Thus I learnt from Tony that one could be a real Rotarian without having to conform to everything.
As Tony was coming to the end of his life, we wanted to give something from the club which would remind us all of the contribution he made in our lives. We did not want a party but something longer lasting. We came up with this - a caricature of the major aspects of his life, produced by Richard Hunt of the Town Club.
It comes with all our best wishes and love for the future with grateful thanks for all he did with us and and for the huge support you provided.
Blessings,
President Anthony.
