Film Night plus Fish & Chips

Tue, Feb 9th 2016 at 12:00 am - 12:00 am

A joint meeting with Inner Wheel. This will start with a fish & chip supper in Port Erin Methodist Church Hall followed by showing of the film "The Quiet Man" at the Erin Arts Centre.

A nostalgic gentle comedy.

Set in the 1920's. After accidently killing an opponent in the ring, boxer Sean Thornton (John Wayne) returns from America to his native Ireland, hoping to buy his family's homestead and live in peace. in doing so, he runs foul of Will Danaher (Victor McLaglen) who long coverted the property. Spitefully, Will objects when his firey sister Mary Kate (Maureen O'Hara), begins a rommance with Sean and refuses to hand over her dowry. Mary Kate refuses to consummate the marriage until Sean retrieves the money.
