Rotary support Volunteer Worker in Thailand.

On the 13th July 2015 the Club had a most interesting presentation from Amber Proctor who is a volunteer worker for Josie"™s Dragonfly Trust.

The Trust’s objective is to brighten the lives of children  and  young people living with cancer and to provide a moment of happiness when a moment is all they have. The Trust provide support services in the UK and in Thailand. More details on the Trust’s work can be found at www.josiesdragonfly.org.  Amber also works as a full time youth worker with Hexham Youth Initiative. She spent some time in Thailand, with the Trust, dealing with young children suffering from cancer and has an objective of raising £3000 for the charity. Half of her £3000 target goes towards cash gifts for children in the UK and the other half funds the annual Dragonfly Camp in Chiang Mai, Northern Thailand.  Her talk was found to be most interesting and informative by club members. The Rotary Club of Hexham were delighted to provide financial support for Amber’s trip and her efforts on behalf  of Josie’s Dragonfly Trust. The funding came from monies raised through the production of the Club’s December 2104 Christmas Chronicle organised by the Club’s Community Service Team
