A talk by PP Brian Munro & Ken Stahly


The weekly meeting of the Rotary Club of Kirkcaldy was held on 23 February 2016 at the Dean Park Hotel. President John Kilgour welcomed 30 members of the Club.

President John also welcomed Lyndsey Stewart on his return to the club after his extended holiday.

Dallas Mechan advised that today is the 94th Anniversary of our Charter and Past President Ann Mitchell advised that today is 111th Anniversary of Rotary being formed.

President John advised that on 23 April we will be holding a Ceilidh and on 5 April our guest speaker will be Olivia Charles from the 500 Charity.

Past President Brian Munro informed members that he is compiling a recipe book and invitied members to send favourite recipes for inclusion in the book.

Past President Brian Munro and Rotarian Ken Stahly gave a most enjoyable and informative talk on their trip to Tanzania to carry on the work of the late Alan Suttie, who, as part of the Global Grant Project, began the work of trying to help alleviate eye problems in many children. Also, chirldren afflicted with albinism have sight problems and are heped with specialised glasses. They also had the opportunity of visiting the Upendo leprosy mission. Ken advised that the club would like 38 sponsors for children to help keep them in education. Primary education is free in Tanzania but secondary education has to be paid for.

President John gave thanks for their informative talk and for showing photographs of their visit to Tanzania.

The meeting was closed with the Club being advised that the next meeting which will be held on 1 March at the Dean Park Hotel at the usual time of 12.30pm for 12.45pm.
