Discovering insulin

A talk by PP Bob Buchan

The weekly meeting of the Rotary Club of Kirkcaldy was held on Tuesday April 19th at the Dean Park Hotel. President John Kilgour welcomed 27 members of the club and 4 guests.

During today’s lunch meeting Ann Mitchell provided the club members with a summary of youth work that the club has been involved in over the past 12 months.

For those who are not aware, the club proactively engages with high school students and younger children in the local area. This includes activities such as - sponsorship of high school awards and events, the Interact club where children and young adults can be involved more closely with Rotary, Christmas party, KidsOut, and many other activities throughout the year.

The club will be doing even more going forward to work closely with the local Head Teachers and help young people in the local area.

Todays guest speaker was Past President Bob Buchan. PP Bob provided the club with a hugely interesting talk about the history of the discovery of Insulin and those who, perhaps controversially, won the Nobel Prize as recognition for the discovery.

The meeting was closed with the club being advised that the next club meeting will be held at 6:30pm on Tuesday April 26th at the Dean Park Hotel, where the club will be hosting a special youth evening.
