Our sincere thanks go to Rob Francis (The Leys School) for the excellent hosting of the whole event and Asst Governor Rtn Simon Lake for agreeing to present the achievement Certificates.
The Judges were very impressed by the quality of the arguements and presentation skills of all involved - and were grateful to the scratch Rotary Team that stood in at very short notice when the Parkside Team were put out of action by a sickness bug !
Peace Debate - Monday 21st Sep 2015 Leys School, Fen Causeway, Cambridge.
Come and listen to these lively debates on 3 contentious topics :
1 Parkside School team to propose & Hills Road to oppose.
This house believes that Religion is a force for World Peace.
2 The Leys School team to propose and Comberton Village College to oppose.
This house believes that violent computer games are detrimental to preserving a Peaceful society
3 Impington Village College team to propose and Stephen Perse School to oppose.
This house believes that welcoming and integrating immigrants from
across the world is essential for the UK’s successful social, economic
and peaceful future.
The teams of 3 will have prepared their arguements and be prepared to take questions.
The quality of the debates will be judged to established rules and prizes will be awarded at the end of the day.
The panel of experienced judges are Jen Little, Victoria Gabioud and Sian Nash.
This popular event is open to the public and rotarians free of charge - refreshments available.
Parking on-site - access from Fen Causeway.
Six local colleges have taken up the Rotary challenge to try out their skills at this annual opportunity for public debate.
