Mini-Conjoint 2015

We will be having our Intermediate Conjoint Meeting in Aachen on the 7/8th November, 2015.

Below you will see details of our meeting with our sister Clubs from Remscheid in Germany, Emmen in Holland and Cambrai in France. The meetig will be at the hotel "Aquis Grana" in Aachen which is just inside Germany.

November7/8, 2015 (Intermediate Conjoint)

Dear Rotarian friends from Cambrai, Emmen and Herne Bay!

Summer has almost passed, and we are looking forward to our Intermediate Conjoint Meeting at Aachen, the town of Charlemagne, and maybe the most European town at all (at least on the continent).

The Rotary Club of Remscheid invites you to this old but at the same time forever young city with its easy accessability right in the heart of Europe.

We meet on Saturday, the 7th of November at 12.00 h at the Hotel "Aquis Grana", Büchel 32 (http://www.hotel-aquis-grana.de), right in the city center within short walking distance to the cathedral.

There is a parking lot just around the corner (APAG Parkhaus, Büchel 43).

From the hotel, we can walk within 5 minutes to the „Tourist Service am Elisenbrunnen", Friedrich-Wilhelm-Platz.

Here we start our guided tour through the old city at 14.00 h. There will be tours in English, French, and probably also Dutch.

The tour will take about 2.5 hours including the cathedral, and in the afternoon there is time for strolling around, shopping etc.

In the evening at 19.00 h we´ll meet at the restaurant "Ratskeller" (Am Markt 40) (http://ratskeller-aachen.de), a traditional building just opposite the cathedral for dinner (and whatever follows thereafter).
On Sunday morning, after breakfast and checking out at the hotel, we shall walk to the town hall nearby (http://aachen.de/rathaus), to see this old gothic building and the hall where the crowning ceremony of the early emperors of central Europe took place.
For those of you who feel that after shedding so many tears at the traditional farewell ceremony you might need chocolates of Lindt and Sprüngli to cheer you up, there is a factory outlet sale of this company on Süsterfeldstraße 130 (http://www.lindt.de/service) (10 Min.by car, opening time 13 – 18 h!
Room reservations have been made at the Aquis Grana Hotel but you have to book your room individually until September 30th. For your booking, please refer to "Rotary-Conjoint-Aachen"
Aachen was the birth place of the father of Alfred the Great, and also of the mother of Anne Frank! Also, well know for the poem by Robert Browning!
