Katie Platt, 15, from The Thomas Hardye School in Dorchester, represented Casterbridge Rotary Club and District 1200 in the National Finals of the Rotary GB&I Young Chef Competition at Lincoln College on Saturday 16th April. Katie competed against 8 other finalists from all over Great Britain and Ireland. The Young Chefs cooked for 2 hours and produced amazing food worthy of any fine-dining restaurant! The judges deliberated for some time and all Katie's supporters were thrilled when she was awarded Third prize. The judges particularly mentioned her exceptional Tarte Tatin with its delicious pastry. The winner was Emma Grant sponsored by the Rotary Club of Cumbernauld. Casterbridge Rotary Club are very grateful for the support of Katie's school and her teacher, Sally Voss, and her mentoring chef, Mark Vaughan of Vaughan's Bistro.
