Bicycles for Africa - Marine Hotel

Sat, Nov 28th 2015 at 9:00 am - 4:00 pm

We're collecting unwanted bicycles, doesn't matter what condition, for Africa.

Bikes 4 Africa

104 million children in the world do not attend school. There are 150 million children who will leave school not being able to read or write. 94% percent of these children live in the developing world. Children who have to fetch water or farm or help at home often have not the time to also walk the long distances to school. A bicycle can transform their lives and open a world of possibility for them.

To make our contribution Rotary Clubs all around Ireland collect unwanted bikes to add to the total being shipped by the charity ‘Jole Riders, Bikes and Books for Africa’. The bikes are sent to an open prison in County Meath where they are repaired and serviced, packed into containers along with schoolbooks and sent to some of the most deprived regions of Africa.

If you have an unwanted bike, no matter what it's condition, please bring it to the Marine Hotel carpark on Saturday November 28th where we will gladly and gratefully accept it.
