On Thursday 28th January the Rotary Club of South Queensferry held a splendid Burns Supper in the Newliston Arms, Kirkliston.  Rotarian Alistair Rarity opened proceedings with the Address to the Haggis and Drew Graham gave the Selkirk Grace. Following the meal, burns enthusiast Robbie Brechin, captivated his audience with some spirited poetic renderings. A witty and thoughtful Immortal Memory was given by Gordon McInally. Norman Watson sang a number of delightful Burns songs throughout the evening. Enrico Prentice proposed the Toast to the Lassies. Morag McCallum replied on behalf of the lassies after another poetic rendering by Robbie Brechin. The evening was rounded off by a final song from Norman Watson and the entire company sang Auld Land Syne. In her vote of thanks, President Kate Gibb emphasised the importance of the social aspect of Rotary which had been so well demonstrated by the thoroughly enjoyable evening. She thanked all of the participants for their sterling efforts and Liz Mackenzie, Social Events Convenor, for organising the event.
