A Barrow Sixth Form College film studies student has captured powerful memories about the Barrow Blitz for a documentary to mark its 75th anniversary.
Matthew Dodd, 18, who studies A levels at the Rating Lane college, has interviewed people who lived through the Blitz that ripped through the town between April and May 1941 as part of his coursework.
From a family who had a narrow escape when Newland Street was bombed to the son of a pharmacist who sheltered under a workbench in Hartington Street, the documentary charts the effect of the bombings on the people of the town in their own words.
Their stories have been turned into a moving historical record of that time complete with photos from the time and footage from the North West Film Archive.
