 Hotel on January 8 after the New Year’s Day ‘brunch’ at the Salutation Inn, Felindre Farchog. John and Gwawr Denley were warmly thanked for their hospitality which gave members such a convivial start to the year.

President Maggie Stringer then reviewed progress on a recent Rotary literacy initiative. Led by President Maggie, Assistant District Governor Vanessa Walker and Rotarian Andrew Thomas, this partnership with Communities Together and the County Council Library Service supports literacy projects in local primary and secondary schools. These projects will tie in with literacy objectives for Key Stage 2 in the primary schools and Key Stage 3 for Ysgol Bro Gwaun and are aided by a grant administered through Communities Together.

The following requests for funding were accepted : help towards expenses for Carys Williams from Wolfscastle, who will represent Pembrokeshire and Wales in a Youth Mission project in South Africa in 2016 to build an orphanage, and  a donation to the local welsh medium playgroup , Cylch Meithrin Abergwaun Wdig a’r fro, for art and craft equipment.

The meeting closed with the final toast by Mike Iles.
