Family and Community Award

Wed, Jan 27th 2016 at 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm

Sonia Plato, the CEO of Horizons Community Leaning, a charity based in St Leonards on Sea and helping people throughout the Hastings and Rother areas, is the latest recipient of the Rotary Club of Senlac’s Family and Community Award. Sonia is retiring at the end of February after 27 years of work within the local community learning organisation. She was appointed CEO in 2011 when Horizons became a Community Interest Charity. Horizons provides free learning facilities for people aged 16 upwards both in class and home situations. Crèche facilities are also available. The charity works very closely with employers to provide job and training opportunities. Over the years many local people have benefited by learning to read, gaining educational qualifications and finding work. The elderly are not ignored; home based lessons on surfing the net are available too!

Sonia was presented with a certificate and a cheque towards the work of Horizons Community Learning by President Roger Young.
