February has proved to be a busy month.
The first meeting on 2nd February was for committees to discuss the future plans but also a visit by Tony Quinn from Chelwood Bridge to present a video on the Rotary D1200 conference which will be at St Johns Hotel Solihull 14 -16 October. There is a discount of £50 if you book before the end of May. It would be great of as many as possible could go to support Dave in his Presidential year.
The 6th saw the service and parade to mark the Accession to the Throne and of the Freedom of Portland given to the Portland Sea cadets – TS Penn. Thanks to Keith Sarah Brian Carolyn Dave and Rachel who all helped with the marshalling whilst Ruth and myself represented the club at the service and reception. Despite the weather – rain and gales it was a really successful day.
Tuesday the 9th saw Andrew give the club an excellent talk into his life and career. He gave an informative insight and a humorous presentation.
The table top sale on the 12th February took place when the weather was again terrible. However, despite that and therefore a poor turnout £307.00 was still raised for our own Benevolent fund. Thanks to Rachel, Dave, Sarah, Brian, Keith, Carolyn, Alan, Mark, Ruth who all helped and, of course, Bruce and Brenda wearing their Julia’s House hats too.
