The members of the Rotary Club of Southgate meet weekly at 12.30pm every Monday, except for the fifth Monday in the month.
Our meetings usually consist of a one course lunch and coffee, followed by an invited speaker who will address us for 20 minutes on a matter of topical interest. Meetings finish promptly at 2pm.
Members are expected to attend fairly regularly, for without regular attendance it is difficult to forge lasting friendships. Rotarians can attend a Rotary Club meeting anywhere in the world.
The Club President chairs meetings of the Club Council which usually consists, in addition to the honorary officers, a representative of the various committees that organise the club. Each Club member is expected to stand on at least one committee
The Service Committee is chaired by the current Club President. This committee organises and delivers humanitarian service both locally and internationally.
Committee members become specialists in:
The Rotary Foundation (our own charity), Dementia support, Youth Service for students (and also disabled and disadvantaged kids), service for the Elderley, and Disablity Sports competition.
International disaster relief, providing clean water, and helping people work themselves out of extreme poverty in impoverished countries.
This Committee is chaired by the current President Elect and raises funds for carrying out our humanitarian activity. Any funds raised are deployed on our humanitarian activity without any deductions for administration. Club costs are met by members annual subscriptions.
It also organises a full and varied social calendar for members, partners and guests.
This committee is chaired by the current Vice President and is responsible for the smooth running of the club. This includes venue, legal requirements, membership, almoner and Sergeant-at-Arms.
