A Young Citizen Award 2016 goes to Madison Glinski of Lelant.
Madison Glinski of St. Ives, is presented with her Young Citizen Award
11 year old Madison Glinski has always been conscious of helping others from an early age, so when she heard about a funeral fund being stolen she was moved to help. She then set herself the challenge tp raise money for a local Childrens Hospice and has raised over £52000 by busking with her violin, in St, Ives and other local towns.
After being nominated by The Rotary Club of St. Ives, Madison has been chosen by Rotary International Great Britain & Ireland as a 'Young Citizen of the Year 2016'.
She accepted the award at Rotary's Annual Conference in Bournemouth on Sat 2nd April.
As part or the award Rotary gave Madison a cheque for £500 to donate to her choice of charity. Wanting to give something back to St. Ives, she donated the money to 'St. Ives Festoon Lights Appeal. This is to repace the 50 year old historic lights in the town.
In addition, Rotary topped up Madison's savings to pay for a new. larger violin.
She was taken to Poole Violin Shop where she fell in love with an 1890 violin which she stated "feels so perfect and has an amazing tone. Thank you".
