Rotary Funds New Boat for Sailability
A group of Rotarians from 6 local clubs gathered together at Frensham Pond Sailing Club on 29th April 2016 to celebrate the launch of the new Sailability boat, Ellie 2, a specially adapted sailing dinghy for disabled people

The 6 Rotary clubs joined together and raised sufficient money to qualify for a Rotary District Grant, to provide a replacement boat fthe or Sailability Charity

Their boat, Ellie, was originally bought by Camberley Rotaract in 2004 and has now come to the end of its life at Sailability. Several Rotary clubs have close links with Sailability, and a number of Rotarians are loyal helpers

Ellie 2 is a Hansa Class boat and is a single seater. Brian Grimwood of Sailability welcomed Rotarians and explained how important this type of boat is. It provides the springboard for disabled sailors, once they have
learned the basics, to improve their skills and sail independently, an important step for them

This ethos lies at the heart of Sailability

The boat was launched by John Grenham of Farnborough Rotary Club, who is Rotary Assistant District Governor of District 1145, the District to which all the participating clubs belong. John wished success and enjoyment to all who sail in Ellie 2

Rotarians present were John Grenham (Farnborough and Assistant Governor District 1145), Peter Sauter (Farnham Weyside), Stuart Bass and Dick Harris (Hart), Chris Johnson and John Forsyth (Fleet), George Alford (Farnham), and Alan Costello (Camberley)
