Colin Johnson will speak on "Science and the Public"

Since graduating in chemistry from Oxford, Colin Johnson has spent his working life in science education - first as a schoolteacher, then as a university lecturer responsible for the pre-service and in-service training of science teachers, and latterly in the informal education sector. He joined the Techniquest project when it started in 1986, first as a volunteer member of its 'Action Group' and ultimately as its chief executive from 1997-2004. In retirement he has been active in the field of 'public engagement with science' as a mentor, and a consultant. He received the OBE in 2004, for "services to science", both nationally and internationally.

He is an honorary Fellow of the British Association for the Advancement of Science, the European Science Centre network, and the American Association of Science and Technology Centers. Currently he is an honorary visiting Senior Research Fellow at the University of Bristol’s Graduate School of Education.
