Ellen Williams – soprano

Gwenllian Llyr – harp

Since releasing her debut EP Skylark in 2014, Cowbridge soprano Ellen Williams has taken a contemporary show based on the life of Welsh composer Morfydd Llwyn Owen to venues across the UK after a successful run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. She has also enjoyed a second nationwide tour supporting Rhydian and performed in venues including  Wembley Arena, Leeds Arena and the Glasgow Hydro with the BBC NOW on the Doctor Who Symphonic Spectacular UK tour. Ellen was also delighted to perform at this year’s Royal British Legion Wales Festival of Remembrance at St David’s Hall.

Ellen has performed at the Wales Millennium Centre, at Lord’s Cricket Ground, and in a Spring celebration concert for the Fishguard International Music Festival. She has shared the concert stage with Wynne Evans and Catrin Finch and sang the part of The Minstrel in the Welsh premier of Karl Jenkins’ The Bards of Wales, conducted by the composer himself and sharing the platform with Dennis O’Neil and Rebecca Evans.

Welsh harpist Gwenllian Llyr is quickly gaining international recognition for her energetic and charismatic performances. Last summer she was awarded seventh place at the USA International Harp Competition, and in 2010 she claimed first prize at the UK Camac Harp Competition. Gwenllian has recently been taking part in the celebration of actor Richard Burton’s life, performing at the publication of his diaries in New York and at the unveiling of his Star on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame. She has also been privileged to perform with renowned artists such as jazz legend Al Jarreau, actor Mathew Rhys and international opera singer Bryn Terfel, with whom she performed for HRH The Prince of Wales at Buckingham Palace. In 2013 Gwenllian graduated with a Master of Music degree from The Juilliard School, New York, where she was awarded the William Schuman prize for outstanding achievement and leadership in music.
