The fantastic work provided by nurses, midwives, healthcare assistants and allied health professionals across Hampshire Hospitals was celebrated at the trust’s annual Director of Nursing Awards.
Caring staff from across Hampshire travelled to Froyle Park, near Alton, for the glittering awards ceremony, where they were joined by many of the people who had nominated them.
317 nominations flooded in from relatives and former patients who had received treatment in the community or at Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust’s three hospitals, Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital, Royal Hampshire County Hospital, in Winchester, and Andover War Memorial Hospital.
Heather Fox, a healthcare assistant on St Cross Ward at Royal Hampshire County Hospital, was the big winner on the night, taking home two awards.
Chief nurse and deputy chief executive Donna Green hosted the ceremony, which was also attended by the Mayor of Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council, the Mayor of Winchester, and the Rotary Clubs of Basingstoke Deane and Winchester. The guest speaker for the evening was Mandy Hickson, a former Tornado pilot in the Royal Air Force.
Donna said: “These awards are very special and recognise the amazing care and support that our nurses, midwives and allied health professionals offer our patients. I want to thank everyone who took the time to write a nomination and the people that bravely shared their experiences at our event; all of our guests on the night for their support. I would like to congratulate all our winners and want to thank our staff for everything they do for our patients.”
