Speaker - Liz MacIntyre

Tue, Jul 12th 2016 at 12:45 pm -

Liz MacIntyre will talk about her book.

The Talk is the story of World War 2 as told through the letters of Gunner Alex Macintyre (Eighth Army) to Nan, his wife of 4 days living back in Glasgow.
It is a gripping and poignant wartime story of love, loyalty and quiet "everyman" courage of a young Scottish couple who faced the years of fear and separation.
Across the North African campaign and onto the mountains of Italy the letters were the window to home and wife - descriptions of sandstorms and Christmas revelries - to hopes of a better future - of a safer life at home and children of their own.n j

Liz Macintyre found the wartime letters after her mother passed away.  She transcribed her fathers words for her own family and this in turn became a World War 2 bestseller.

She shares her own story to encourage us all to celebrate our own unique family stories.
