Fleet Rotary Fun Walk hits new high
Over 180 walkers from 8 to 80 plus a few family dogs took part in the 3rd Annual Charity Fun Walk sponsored by Fleet Rotary on Saturday 4 May. Every walker selected their own charity, ranging from local or medical to International charities, to which all their sponsored funds will go. The amount raised so far is around £10,000 and donations are still coming in.
The event followed a route through many of the nature areas surrounding Fleet. The walkers returned full of smiles expressing a real sense of achievement. Some said they had visited some nature areas that they had not seen before, and hoped that Fleet Rotary would organise a similar event next year. The walk covered optional distances of 3.6 to 10.3 miles.
Event organiser Rotarian Chris Johnson said, "The event was worth all the effort in planning the Fun Walk. In particular, I would like to thank the Check Point Marshalls without whom we would not have been able to go ahead. The weather was cold, breezy and dry , ideal for the walkers but a challenge for the marshals. The increased number of participants compared to previous years also shows the growing popularity of this Rotary sponsored event".
