ROTARY CLUBS DONATE PUBLIC BENCHES TO DALKEITH

As part of an environmental project aimed at improving the surroundings of Dalkeith, the Dalkeith and Esk Valley Rotary Clubs are donating three public benches to the town.

The traditionally styled metal benches are to be placed in the courtyard by St Nicolas Buccleuch Church, at the lower end of the High Street.   This attractive courtyard had unfortunately been the subject of vandalisation and was badly in need of a facelift.

Midlothian Council had plans to tidy the courtyard up, and also provide new shrubbery and foliage.   Hearing of the plans, the two Rotary Clubs offered to provide the benches.

In addition the Rotary Clubs are also donating plants and are providing volunteers who will help with the plantings.

A planting ceremony will take place on Saturday 6 November to commemorate the project.
