Pig Roast
118 people supported a Pig Roast on a windy Sunday afternoon at Lower Hook Farm organised by John Hicks on behalf of the Rotary Club of Royal Wootton Bassett & District.
The event was to raise funds for the Local Coram Life Education Centre which delivers health & wellbeing learning to primary school children.
Everyone enjoyed a delicious suckling pig with potatoes, salad (and crispy crackling for most guests!). The main cousre was followed by good old strawberries and cream well presented by Robert Collis and his crew.
John organised the usual Cow Pat Competition - supported by his herd of Limousine cows. The raffle (all prizes donated by members) raised more than £400. Despite the chilly windy weather, many brave souls stayed in the delightful front garden of the 18th Century house, whilst others felt that the old barn was warmer and closer to the food.
Everyone went away happy. It always helps when you don't have to pay restaurant prices for the drinks as it was a BYO!
We're looking forward to next year's Pig Roast already!
