Rotary Water Supply Project in Nepal

Thu, Nov 3rd 2016 at 12:30 pm - 2:00 pm

Rtn. Max Hamps, RC Hexham, told us about this International Rotary project - of which we are a partner.

At the beginning of the meeting, we were pleased to make a donation of £500 to the Hexham Club as our share (for the moment) of the funding of this important project.

Max told us something of the apalling conditions experienced by the villagers as seen by one of the members of the Hexham Club. The Club then decided to launch a project to improve matters, sending out a civil engineer member to assess the optimum requirements and solutions.

Unable to fund the project by themselves, the Club then sought both District and Global Grants from The Rotary Foundation - and Max thanked our member Stewart Atkin for his assistance in this process.

The story is best told in this PDF from Max's presentation. In the meantime, the image below illustrates the funding mechanism; note that this is not just from within our District but also from Rotary Clubs in San Diego and locally in Nepal.
