Shaun Newton is in charge of Resource Development at this locally-based charity.

...

Shaun gave us an effective and informative presentation about this unusual charitable organisation - a hospital in Nazareth with its head office in Hetto-le-Hole but registered in Scotland!

Visit The Nazareth Trust website and you'll discover that the original, very basic, hospital was establishled in 1861 when the average life expectancy was 22 years for males and 24 years for females. There was a real need.

A couple of quotations from the website, echoed by Shaun:-

“Nazareth Hospital has always provided a unique testimony to peaceful co-existence in a land riven by conflict.”

"The 'English Hospital' retains the affection and respect of all groups, who value it as a Christian place of healing and restoration, be they Christian, Moslem, Druze or Jew. All these groups are represented amongst both staff and patients."

We can agree that this approach is very much in tune with Rotary’s objectives of peace and conflict resolution.
