Pantomime trip for the elderly

Report by Ann Holden

I just wanted to both report back to you all on how well last night went, and also more importantly to thank everyone involved in making the pantomime for the elderly and frail from our town such a resounding success. Many heartwarming thanks have come in to our drivers and helpers for enabling them to have 'a night out' . The 'night out' provided free transport for those who needed it to the local Shelley theatre to see the annual Marlow Entertainers; pantomime, free tea and coffee at the interval plus programme and raffle ticket. Our guests loved it, though I did witness the consternation on one of the entertainer's faces when the last ticket won by a very frail old lady was down to a Quentin Tarantino DVD. (He promised to get her something nice by the way instead, bless him and promptly came up with an alternative!)

So I'm sending a huge thank you to all who made it possible, especially the drivers who turned out on a freezing night and our helpers in the hall in taking such good care of our guests, including Richard for stepping in at the last minute and Lucy and Anne (Hudson) for manning the fire door on said freezing night, so our guests could be dropped not only by an open door, but more importantly the lift. Also all who helped in the background, Derek Wallington who previously masterminded the event, and who came along again to meet and greet and has supported us throughout the year in planning the event and Suzanne in co-ordinating the age concern lists and more. Plus Derrick, my man Friday in all this and Jo for more background support. Not forgetting all Marlow Thames Rotarians and their partners for serving through the year at other events to raise the money to make this event possible.

Thank you everyone
