Club 70th Charter

On the 14th October we held a "party" to celebrate 70 years of service to the local community.

Friday the 14th October saw the 70th Charter Night Celebration of Conwy Valley Rotary Club at the Maenan Abbey Hotel. Originally called Llanrwst and Trefriw Rotary Club, it changed its name to encompass the relevant area of operation.

Members of the Conwy Valley club were joined by members of other Rotary clubs, friends and family members, meaning that there were 77 people at the "party".  Our Charter Night is the only occassion that we, in the Conwy Valley Club dress formally for meals.

Clubs represented included :

  • Bangor ;
  • Conwy ;
  • Denbigh ;
  • Holyhead ;
  • Llandudno ;
  • Llanfairfechan & Penmaenmawr ;
  • Llangollen ;
  • Rhos on Sea ; and
  • Ruthin

Also at the event were the Llanrwst Town Mayor, the President of Soroptimists Dyffryn Conwy and the President of the Llanrwst Lions Club.

The guest speaker was Llanfairfechan farmer, author & international television personality Gareth Wyn Jones.

During the evening President John Mitchell presented a cheque for £500 on behalf of the club to Shelterbox representative Assistant District Governor Bob Maskall.
